Some of the Yarns and Fabrics you will see incorporated in the Goodhew line are:

Long Staple Egyptian Cotton Sateen Fabric
Long Staple Egyptian Cotton is the finest cotton grown in the world. This fabric, used in our boxer shorts, is so soft and has such a great sheen, you will wonder why everybody doesn't use this fabric. In addition to its super hand, our fabric has great breathability to keep you cool and dry, and is incredibly durable, providing years of wearing enjoyment.

Merino Wool Yarns and Fibers
There is no better fiber than wool for day-to-day applications than high grade Merino Wool. The structure of the wool fiber helps hold in heat in cold situations while helping to cool the skin in warm situations, and thus is a natural body temperature regulator. Merino wool is great at absorbing moisture and evaporating it thus keeping your feet drier. These properties, combined with the durability, loft, and softness of high grade merino wool, make it a terrific material for socks. All wool used by Goodhew is shrink-treated, finer micron count merino wool or other higher grade wool such as lamb's wool.

Cashmerino
Our name for Superfine Merino Wool that has a hand that feels like Cashmere but the durability of Wool. These yarns have a very fine micron count and a hand that defines softness.

Lamb's Wool
This is a high quality, fine micron count merino wool that is harvested only from lambs. Thus, it is free of higher micron fibers found on adult sheep. It has all the characteristics of regular merino wool with added softness.

Alpaca Fibers
Alpaca has many of the same characteristics of merino wool but possesses certain advantages over wool fiber. Alpaca fibers, like wool, have microscopic air pockets that give them great thermal capacity, but the thermal factor of Alpaca is greater than wool, a gift of nature that developed from the environment Alpacas live in (high mountains). Additionally, Alpaca fiber is stronger than wool fiber, has a softer hand than wool in the same micron count, and comes in 22 distinct, naturally occurring colors.

Bamboo Fibers
Bamboo yarns, made from fiber taken from the bamboo plant, are attractive for a variety of reasons. Bamboo is produced from plants that are self sustaining and fully biodegradable. Bamboo has inherent anti-bacterial properties that aid in the control of odor. Finally, bamboo fiber has very good moisture management and breathability due to micro-gaps in the structure of the material that allow ventilation and moisture absorption.

Spandex
Spandex provides superior fit as compared to the commonly use stretch nylon products in most socks. With spandex, socks are able to fit more snugly across a larger range of shoe sizes and fit as well at the end of the day as they did when they were put on in the morning.
